It ain’t Friday without a Paycheck
The only paycheck I’ll get today is this tasty morsel from the late Johnny Paycheck. For my money one of the most underrated country music singers ever. This clip is obviously from late in his career, his strong clear voice a little ragged at the edges over time, but still evident. Also evident is the tightness between Johnny and his band. As everyone knows, it’s not the fiddle that makes country music twang, it’s the Hawaiian pedal steel guitar. And this song has some excellent steel guitar play. An awesome 4 minute clip from the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. Happy Friday.
Update: 8/11/2021 – The original link embedded with this post is no longer available. I’m not sure if this is the original song I linked some 14 years ago now, but it fits the description, steel guitar and all.
