KZEW – The Zoo – Revisited

I’ve been a little nostalgic about music lately. I finally bought the 1975 Marantz receiver that I couldn’t afford in 1976. I think I paid 5 times what it would have cost new. Oh the irony. Also been poring over my old vinyl and playing a few favorites on the 1974 Pioneer turntable I also bought. I couldn’t afford it in the 70’s either. But paid 4 times the original cost. To paraphrase Def Leppard – pour some irony on me.

But old stereo equipment and dusty records isn’t why I’m writing today. Some years ago I wrote about the album rock radio station that got me really listening to rock & roll music, KZEW 98FM Dallas, Texas – The Zoo. Later on that year I posted a follow up on some of the responses I’d gotten from that post. Notes from folks like former KZEW jock Kelly Clarke (nee Betsy Thaggard) and Ken Rundel another notable KZEW on air personality.
